The plan began with a dining room addition that delivers the scale they were hoping for — even more than originally drawn — creating a true centerpiece for hosting. Adjoining it, a kitchen renovation modernizes the work zone while respecting the home’s character, improving circulation between cooking, serving, and seating.
Entertaining naturally spills outside thanks to a covered bluestone patio and grill station that extend usable living space in all seasons. Cathedral ceilings amplify the sense of volume, while the covered structure keeps the entire patio dry and comfortable — a key request that shaped the final design.
A major challenge was aligning scope to vision. After really listening to how the homeowners expected to live and host, the team reimagined the outdoor structure to cover the entire patio, creating a truly functional all-weather retreat that connects seamlessly back to the interiors.
